The Johor State Government has formed the Johor Green Committee to demonstrate the state’s commitment to preserving environmental sustainability.

Green technology, sustainable urban development, and renewable energy were the topics of discussion and policy-making for the committee, led by Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

Ling Tian Soon, the chairman of the state’s Health and Environment Committee, stated that the establishment’s initiative is critical to guaranteeing investors in the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) adhere to the policies that will be established.

“Given the establishment of the JS-SEZ, what future regulations or policies would the state of Johor like to enact to attract investors to the region? Businesses have to fulfil renewable energy requirements and adhere to established criteria, ensuring the sustainability and preservation of the Johor state’s environment. This is one of the initiatives (of the Green committee),” said Ling Tian Soon during the Green Legacy Johor Summit 2024 at the Persada Johor International Convention Centre.

The Asia-Pacific Climate Week 2023 (APCW 2023) programme, which is also a state government initiative, is followed up with the Johor Green Legacy Summit 2024 programme.
