Public involvement is needed to materialise Special Area Plan (RKK) Johor Bahru City 2030
A draft of Special Area Planning (RKK) Johor Bahru City 2030 spanning around Stulang, Taman Pelangi, Larkin and Bandar Baru Uda was launched together with a publicity programme in raising awareness to gain public involvement in rejuvenating the 8 zones of Johor Bahru which are Bandar Baru Uda, Larkin, Kampung Melayu, Kebun Teh, Wadi Hana, Bakar Batu, Taman Pelangi and Stulang.
The officiation was made in the presence of Tan Chen Choon, Member of Johor State Legislative Assembly and Local Government, Urban Wellbeing and Environment Committee chairman together with Dato’ Haji Amran bin A. Rahman, Mayor of MBJB, Haji Akmal Nasrullah bin Mohd Nasir, MP of Johor Bahru, Chen Kah Eng, State Assemblyman of Stulang, Mohd Izhar bin Ahmad, Assemblyman of Larkin, Parties’ Whips and Council Members of MBJB, Abdul Malik bin Haji Ismail, Secretary of MBJB and Ir. Hajah Nazatul Shima binti Mohamad, Vice Secretary of MBJB.
55 general support, 48 main proposals, 32 main entry point and 16 quick wins made up the RKK, with a total amount of 103 proposals. It is looking into materialising Quick Win projects as soon as possible and some of the main goals are to increase accessibilities around the tight-built city areas, revitalising building facades and clearing the rivers. The voice of locals in regards of the project is essential in order for the authorities to make their moves accordingly.
“The public involvement and publicity programme would commence today until the 30th of May, 2019. People could look at the final draft of RKK at the exhibition area in MBJB’s main building. It opens from 8.30am until 4.30pm on weekdays,” said Amran.
