Johor Bahru Chingay Parade 2025: Road Closures and Alternative Routes

The annual parade's information on routes and police's advice to the public

Johor police has laid out standard operating procedures and closures of several main roads around Johor Bahru city during the 2025 Johor Bahru Chingay that will take place in stages starting from 16 February 2025 (Sunday) to 19 February 2025 (Wednesday).

Police advise the public to utilise public transport to avoid congestion and arrive early to avoid delays caused by traffic closures.

“To prevent traffic congestion during road closures, plan your itinerary around other routes.” The statement said. Among other advises by the police in accordance to the parade includes:

  1. Park the vehicle in the designated area and be cautious, such as ensuring there are no valuables in the vehicle and that the vehicle is always locked to avoid undesirable items.
  2. It is illegal to carry sharp or hazardous weapons, as well as forbidden weapons that might result in criminal charges that disrupt or disturb civilians.
  3. Any type of provocation, such as attacking or stabbing, that has the potential to instigate or influence conflicts and controversies is strictly prohibited.
  4. The public is barred from igniting fireworks and flying drones without permission during the parade.
  5. It is not permitted to trade or gather on the roadside along the procession route.
  6. Parents should always supervise young children.
  7. Do not interrupt or engage in criminal actions during the parade. Action will be done in accordance with current laws.
  8. Follow the directives issued by Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) officials on a regular basis to ensure public peace and order. The police will not hesitate to take action against any criminal behaviour or activity.

Beginning 16 February, 11.00 am to 01.00 pm, some main roads will be closed for the purpose of “Road cleaning,” starting and ending from the Ancient Johor temple (Jalan Trus) to the following roads:

1)Jalan Trus

2) Jalan Ngee Heng

3) Jalan Tun Abdul Razak

4) Jalan Ulu Air Molek

5) Jalan Yahya Awal

6) Jalan Ayer Molek

7) Jalan Dato’ Onn

8) Jalan Susur Ibrahim

9) Jalan Wong Ah Fook

The main roads that will be closed for the “Taking the Temple Out” event on Monday, February 17, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. will begin at the ancient temple (Jalan Trus) and come to an end at the Xing Gong temple (Jalan Ulu Air Molek) are Jalan Trus, Jalan Ngee Heng, Jalan Tun Razak and Jalan Ulu Ayer Molek.

On the 18th of February 2025 (Tuesday), during the peak of the “Chingay parade”, the road closure will commence at 05.00 pm and is expected to end on 19th February 2025 (Wednesday) at 03.00 am, involving the following roads:

1) Tiong Hua federal mortisium, Johor bahru / Jalan Ulu Ayer Molek

2) Traffic lights Jalan Yahya Awal/Jalan Ulu Ayer Molek

3) Traffic lights Jalan Yahya Awal intersection/Jalan Lingkaran Dalam

4) Red lights at Jalan Yahya Awal

5) Traffic lights at Jalan Yahya Awal/Jalan Syed Mohd Mufti (opposite Tabung Haji building)

6) Intersection of Jalan Ulu Ayer Molek/Jalan Dato Onn (opposite Johor court)

7) Jalan Ibrahim / Jalan Wong Ah Fook

8) Jalan Wong Ah Fook/Jlan Tun Abdul Razak (opposite Wisma Maria)

9) Jalan Tun Abdul Razak / Upwards to Danga City Mall intersection

10) Downwards to Danga City Mall intersection ended at the Tiong Hua federal mortal house, Johor Bahru

19 February 2025 (Wednesday), for the “Returning to the Temple” event, road closure from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., from Xing Gong temple (Jalan Ulu Ayer Molek) to Johor Ancient Temple (Jalan Trus), involving Jalan Tun Razak (route from Johor Bahru city to Skudai), Jalan Ngee Heng (in front of Wisma Maria) and Jalan Trus.

Regarding alternate paths, the statement recommends the public to use these routes:

1) From Skudai / Danga Bay to city centre Use the Jalan Lingkaran Dalam and Jalan Abu Bakar Avoid Jalan Wong Ah Fook

2) From Tebrau / Kota Tinggi to the city centre Use the EDL highway to enter the city centre via Jalan Stulang Laut

3) From Pasir Gudang to the city centre, Use the Jalan Bakar Batu and enter via the Jalan Lingkaran Dalam

4) From Singapore via Tambak Johor, users are advised to use public transport to reduce congestion

“The district chief of police has the authority to close, change routes, or block roads under sections 21 and 29 of the Police Act 1967.”

“The Johor Bahru Selatan district police will provide maximum security during the festivities.”

“All parties are expected to provide full cooperation to ensure the 2025 Chingay festival is held in a safe, smooth, and safe atmosphere for all.” the statement ends.
