This joint project under Iskandar Innovations Sdn Bhd is expected to open by the final quarter of 2019
Iskandar Innovations Sdn Bhd, a member of Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB) group of companies and KT Corporation from South Korea are working on building Iskandar Puteri’s very first Virtual Reality Centre as an addition to the existing international theme parks like LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort and Puteri Harbour Theme Parks – Sanrio Hello Kitty Town and Thomas Town.
During the Joint Venture document exchange ceremony, it was announced that the VR Centre will be opened to the public by Q3 of 2019.
Jimmy Puah, Chairman of International Trade, Investment and Utilities Committee of Johor said, “The state government is delighted to welcome another FDI into Johor, and we are committed to support and facilitate both local and foreign investors. As we have modern infrastructure, easy accessibility, abundance of resources and strong government support, I hope government agencies and the private sectors can collaborate and collectively promote investments to Iskandar Malaysia.”
Datuk Ir. Khairil Anwar Ahmad, President/Chief Executive Officer of IIB said they have listed five main components in the long-term plan to position Iskandar Puteri as a digital nexus – VR Theme Park, Education, Esports, Research and Development and Marketplace.
Meanwhile Vice President of KT Global Business, Head of Global Strategic Investment, KT Corporation, Kwon Oryung is looking forward to put their utmost effort in catalytic projects and other businesses in Malaysia by providing various ICT technologies to IIB.
KT Corporation will design, build, supply, install and commission the VR Solutions for the VR Centre of Excellence while IISB will handle the business set-up, solutions and the overall operation and funding.
This partnership between IIB and KT Corporation is expected to spearhead the development of AR/VR in Medini, the up and coming Central Business District of Iskandar Malaysia.
