Iskandar Investment Berhad, in a statement through its President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Idzham Mohd Hashim, addressing the recently tabled 2024 Johor State Budget themed ‘Driving Development and Prospering the People’, has said to give its full support in terms of providing facilities and talent pools that cater to the specific needs of the industries that are ready to be a part of Medini.
Citing Johor as the state with the highest foreign investments in Malaysia as of 2022, the most significant change is expected to occur in the next ten to twenty years in the southern part of the state, which is closest to Singapore.
“The state’s continued efforts to strengthen investment initiatives and regional cooperation will in turn help improve the socioeconomic conditions of the people in Johor.”
“The 2024 Johor State Budget tabled outlines the state government’s strategy in continuation of its effort to develop Johor’s economy for the wellbeing of the Bangsa Johor,” he said.
He continued by saying that Medini’s status as a top investment destination to draw value-added investments and open up much-needed economic opportunities in Johor has been further enhanced by the timely creation of the Johor – Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), which is strategically located 45 km from Changi Airport in Singapore and Iskandar Puteri.
“We expect exponential growth for GBS Medini, Tech Medini, and the M40 property market in the coming years with the continued efforts of Friendly Johor 3.0 and Johor Go Global 3.0,” he added.
The IIB’s recent announcement of the Net Zero Carbon CBD roadmap is said to have resonated with the recently launched Johor Sustainability Centre (JSC), which was cited in the budget, and it looks forward to collaborating with it.
In addition to the JSC, the Ibrahim International Business District (IIBD) highlights the need for more business hubs to support Johor’s comparable hubs—like its Net Zero Carbon CBD—which are meant to spur growth through foreign investment.
“IIB lauds the state government’s plans and initiatives to empower more housing ownership through affordable housing development.”
In keeping with the government’s goal of giving everyone in society the chance to own high-quality, high-value homes at reasonable prices, IIB is presently preparing to develop more affordable living in Iskandar Puteri through the Wawari Project. With this development, it is hoped that communities with different ages, lifestyles, and income levels will have access to top-notch infrastructure and facilities.
Through its training division, EduCity Academy, IIB continues to be unwavering in its commitment to Johor’s talent development agenda.
“We are happy that Dato’ Onn Hafiz bin Ghazi, Menteri Besar Johor, announced the continuation of the English for Professional programme. This programme kicked off in 2023 via collaboration between IIB and the Johor Civil Service Academy.”
“In line with ESG initiatives, we are fully supportive of the EV Pilot Programme with an allocated budget of RM2.5 million as well as the Green Environmental Preservation Initiative through three stages with a total of RM5.3 million. Over at Medini, we are committed to providing more EV charging stations and maintaining around 40% of green space in Medini,” the statement ends.
