Iskandar Investment Berhad Leads Johor Week at Expo Dubai 2020

The Johor Week with the theme “The Southern Jewel of Malaysia”, will showcase Johor’s best with a target of potential trade and investment amounting to RM500 million

The state of Johor will have a presence in the Malaysia Pavilion during the Expo 2020 Dubai for Johor Week, from the 27th of February to the 5th of March 2022 held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB), which has been chosen as Johor’s Lead Agency, is tasked by Johor State Economic Planning Division (BPENJ) to plan and organise activities during the Johor Week at the said expo.

IIB President and Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Ir. Khairil Anwar Ahmad said, “IIB is honoured to be appointed as the Lead Agency to coordinate Johor State’s participation at this Expo. Together with Invest Johor, we coordinated the selection and identified participating companies and delegates. A comprehensive schedule of many business programmes has been planned for the benefit of Johor delegates as well as potential investors and buyers from the world over.”

He added, “Johor’s participation would be a great opportunity for IIB as this world expo is the best platform for us to access global markets and boost our business growth. It is hoped that IIB can attract potential business opportunities during our participation at this world expo.”

“Being the catalytic developer for Iskandar Puteri, we take pride that this sustainable future metropolis has been designated as Johor State’s Digital and Emerging Technology Hub as part of the Johor Digital Masterplan. One of IIB’s recent key initiatives is Iskandar NEXT – New Economy, Experience and Talent (NEXT), an innovative private-public partnership with the state government which lends noteworthy support to the Johor State’s digital economy agenda and plays a significant role towards achieving Iskandar Malaysia’s aspiration as a regional commercial and digital hub. This, in turn, would contribute towards greater socio-economic impact for Johor in particular and the Malaysian economy in general,” he said.

IIB will be promoting the programmes under Iskandar NEXT during Johor Week at Expo 2020 Dubai

Johor Week is one of Malaysia Pavilion’s 26 weekly trade and business programmes, themed “The Southern Jewel of Malaysia,” it will highlight the finest of Johor in digital, logistics, real estate, infrastructure and construction services, agriculture, and food industry. Malaysia’s participation in Expo 2020 Dubai is being led by the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation Malaysia. The Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation is in charge of implementation.

Expo 2020 Dubai themed “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future” started from the 1st of October 2021 and will run till the 31st of March 2022.
