The strategic and catalytic developer of Iskandar Puteri, Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB), celebrated Malaysia’s 66th National Day by hosting a sports day for 50 students with special needs from Sekolah Nur Azalea. 30 IIB employees offered to spend the day actively engaging with and supporting the children during a variety of physical activities and games with Merdeka themes as part of the event, which was held on 24th August 2023, on the school grounds.
Aligned with IIB’s mission to create an all-embracing inclusive and sustainable metropolis that affords opportunities for everyone, the sports day was testament to their commitment to nurturing inclusivity and community bonding. Speaking about the initiative, Dato’ Idzham Hashim, President & Chief Executive Officer of IIB said, “At IIB, we firmly believe in building a sustainable community that leaves no one behind. The National Day celebration this year gave us an opportunity to spread joy and togetherness with some very special members of our community. We are committed to advancing an inclusive society in Johor through strategic partnerships and community outreach programs that benefit people from all walks of life”.
To help students with special needs attain their full potential and become independent adults, the Sekolah Nur Azalea offers education and training. Through a number of CSR efforts, including facility upgrades and the organization of skill-building programs for instructors and students, IIB has helped the school. Datin Hajjah Narimah Haji Ahmad, Naib Yang Di Pertua Persatuan Bagi Kanak-kanak Kerencatan Akal Johor said, “We are appreciative for IIB’s support in assisting our students in gaining essential life skills and experiences. Our pupils will always remember the sports day, and we are grateful to IIB for making them happy and making them feel included on this significant day.
