“I hope this assistance can help homestay and chalet operators to continue their business,” he said.

Earlier, the Menteri Besar witnessed the handover of One-Off Incentive Assistance mock-cheque to Homestay and Chalet Operators in Johor amounting to RM534,000 to 267 boutique hotel operators with RM2,000 each and RM551,000 for homestay operators involving 551 recipients and RM1,000 per operator through the Ihsan Johor 3.0 Economic Stimulus Package (PRE).

Presented by the Chairman of the Johor State Tourism, Youth and Sports Committee, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi the cheques were handed to the Director of Tourism Johor, Haji Suhairi Hashim.

One of the recipients, Trata’leka Homestay Resort’s owner, Safiah Isa thanked the Johor state government, especially the Menteri Besar for the contribution.

“The homestay industry has experienced a 90% decrease in visitors since last year. The reduction has caused financial problems to pay for maintenance costs and so on.

“The assistance of RM1,000 is very much needed to cover the operating expenses of the homestay, especially the maintenance cost,” she said.
