Never pass on a food review that is coming from Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel especially from its acclaimed Wan Li Chinese Restaurant, and I am going to walk you through why.
I remember specifically that the Prosperity Yee Sang prepared by Renaissance had these special shreds of jackfruits that made the tossing sweeter and added a unique flavour to the plate. This year, there are even more choices with Abalone, Crispy Fish, Crispy Soft Shell Crab and Salmon Fillet, all split into small and large options.
In its Chef’s Table selected choices, the Chinese Style Risotto with Braised Abalone, Mixed Mushroom and Vegetables is what impresses me the most.
Being the odd, western-based dish, I was a bit reluctant at first but don’t let it fool you as it goes really well with the Authentic Steamed “Pontian” Pomfret Fish with Fragrant Mixed Garlic.
For dessert, you could easily fall in love with the silky smooth, chilled lemongrass jelly with aloe vera and fresh passion fruits that cleanses your palate well to take on the sweet, baked homemade Nian Gao with honey glaze.
The Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner will be available on the 31st January 2022 for two sessions, 5 pm to 7 pm and 8 pm to 10 pm.
