From Johor to the World: Kopi Rakyat Aims to Reach the ASEAN Market

The Johor-grown coffee brand opens a new concept cafe in Toppen Shopping Centre, received its Halal certification through Maybank, and extended incentive to Johor-born Olympian, Shah Firdaus

Kopi Rakyat, a 100% home-grown coffee brand from Johor, celebrated the grand opening of its new concept cafe at The Topp, Toppen Shopping Centre, Tebrau, Johor Bahru, with two MoUs and handovers of certificates and incentive.

JAKIM has certified Kopi Rakyat as ‘Halal’ through the halal hub scheme organised by Maybank Malaysia Berhad. During the festivities, a representative from Maybank Malaysia Berhad, Faizah Ismail, Head of Business Performance & Productivity, Johor Region, handed over the Halal certificate.

Representatives of Johor Youth, Sports, Entrepreneur Development, and Cooperative Committee chairman Mohd Hairi Mad Shah; Haji Mohamad Radif bin Kosnin PSI, General Manager of Perbadanan Usahawan Johor Sdn. Bhd, Mohd Zulkhairie Razali; the founder of Kopi Rakyat, Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahnom, Olympian and National Track Cyclist and Boss James; Kopi Rakyat’s Brand Ambassador, were present during the grand opening celebration.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Kopi Rakyat and Ocean Labs Technology Sdn Bhd was signed to facilitate a new Web-Ordering CRM system for customers to skip queues and place orders online.

Another MoU was also signed with Telenfity Media Sdn Bhd to obtain more media coverage.

During the event, Kopi Rakyat gave Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahnom a sports achievement incentive in recognition of his efforts in Olympic Paris 2024.

According to Kopi Rakyat in a statement, they strongly believe that this will further catalyse the growth of Muhammad Shah’s performance and win the first gold medal for Malaysia in the Olympic Games LA2028.

Kopi Rakyat opened its first outlet at Kg Melayu Majidee, and now has three outlets in Johor Bahru, with the second at Toppen Shopping Centre and the third at Paradigm Mall.

Kopi Rakyat would be opening their outlets in Kuala Lumpur at Pavilion Bukit Jalil, Nu Sentral at KL Sentral, and MyTown Cheras Shopping Centre by the end of this year.

Kopi Rakyat is pioneering a new tech-driven retail model with the goal of providing high-quality Malaysian coffee and products to customers across ASEAN at a low cost and convenience.
