Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) has announced the temporary closure of the newly opened public pool in Hutan Bandar, Johor Bahru, following human excrement found at the side of the kids’ pool.

The announcement made through its social media page captioned “This temporary closure is implemented for the safety of the public as well as to carry out repair works due to vandalism and facility maintenance.”

“The actions of a few irresponsible individuals have affected the cleanliness and facilities, thus affecting the comfort of other visitors.”

“This water park is a public facility that must be maintained responsibly by every visitor.”

In regard to the issue, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi reminded the public, especially parents of small children, to set a good example, educating them (children) about the importance of maintaining cleanliness, respecting public facilities, and being sensitive to the comfort of others.

“As parents, we have a significant role in teaching kids about responsibility and manners, particularly in public settings.”

“A more responsible and civilised generation in the future will be shaped by these small values.”

“The management must take action, such as temporarily closing the area for cleaning and maintenance, when cleanliness is not maintained.”

He went on to say that due to heavy use, the recreational pool will be temporarily closed for maintenance and cleaning before reopening on Saturday, 28th March 2026.

“To ensure that everyone can continue to enjoy this facility, let’s work together to maintain it. Don’t allow a few people’s attitudes to spoil this wonderful facility. Hutan Bandar is our collective property, so treat it with dignity, cherish it, and use it wisely.”
