Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB) with Ramada by Wyndham Meridin Johor Bahru and Yayasan Penyayang Iskandar Puteri (YPIP) came together to provide new school uniforms, bags, stationery and food packets to Orang Asli students from four schools in Iskandar Puteri.
106 children from 3 primary schools, SK Ladang Pendas, SK Gelang Patah, SK Nusa Perintis and one secondary school, SMK Gelang Patah, turned up with their parents at the handover ceremony at Kampung Orang Asli Simpang Arang.

Officiated by Sr. Dzulkefy Ahmad, Kota Iskandar Assemblyman, the event was also attended by IIB’s Azman Mohd Hussein, Executive Vice President, Human Capital Management & Transformation; Ramada by Wyndham Meridin’s General Manager, Jac Khoo; Kampung Orang Asli Simpang Arang’s Tok Batin, Noree Kasi and the headmasters from the four schools.
“Education has always been close to our heart and today we are very pleased to be able to extend a small token of assistance to some of the Orang Asli students in our community as they plan for the next school session in January 2020,” said Azman.
“Meeting school children from Kampung Orang Asli Simpang Arang was a rewarding experience for us, and it truly promotes the spirit of giving and sharing, especially as we approach the year-end festive season,” Jac said.
Meanwhile, Sr. Dzulkefly Ahmad, in his speech before handing over the school supplies, shared an encouraging remark for the children and parents. “Education is very important to children, including for Orang Asli children. It has been proven that many Orang Asli children can be successful in the professional field. Whether they wish to become a doctor or an engineer, it is possible with the support of parents and the community. Education is the key.”
The ‘Back to School’ programme has been delivering numerous assistance to school children in Johor, extending to as far as the remote islands off Mersing coastlines.
