The Election Commission (EC) has distributed 24,677 postal ballot papers to qualified voters for the 16th Johor State Election.
According to EC secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus, postal ballot papers were issued today by election officials in all 56 state constituencies, as required by Regulation 3 of the Election (Postal Voting) Regulations 2003.
He stated that 23,288 postal ballot papers were issued to voters under the Form 1A category, which included election officials, EC members and officers, police personnel, military personnel, and media practitioners.
“A total of 1,044 postal ballot papers were issued under the Form 1B category for Malaysians residing abroad, and 345 under the Form IC category involving agencies and organisations,” he said in a statement.
Khairul Shahril stated that postal ballot papers were issued in the presence of representatives from all contesting candidates.
Meanwhile, he reminded postal voters to properly mark their ballot papers and complete the Identity Declaration Form (Form 2) before returning them to the respective constituency returning officers by 5 p.m. on polling day, 11 July.
He also urged voters to keep their votes private by not photographing or sharing postal ballot papers on social media.
The Johor state election features 172 candidates, with early voting scheduled for 7 July 2026.
