The main Digital Industry grants issued by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), an agency under the Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD), namely the Digital Content Grant (DCG), the Malaysia Digital X-Port Grant (MDXG) and the Malaysia Digital Catalyst Grant (MDCG) received encouraging response since applications opened on 2 May 2023.

This is evidenced by the participation of close to 1,000 digital industry players at the briefing session which was held virtually on 9 May 2023. More than 300 questions and information regarding the grant application eligibility criteria were shared by the digital industry players present at the session.

Selected applications must attend a presentation session scheduled to take place in June 2023. Application results are expected to be announced in July 2023, subject to the number of applications received.

“I urge more local creative industry players to take this opportunity and apply for these grants provided, and to take advantage of it in order to remain competitive in the local market and penetrate the global market,” said Fadzil, Minister of Communications and Digital.

DCG 2023 focuses on the digital creative industry development, and provides four other grants namely the Mini Project Grant; Development Grant; Production Grant; and Marketing and Commercialisation Grant.

These four grants offer grants worth RM150,000 to RM2 million to companies and sole proprietorships or limited liability partnerships (LLP), involving four areas of digital content namely animation, digital games, digital comics, and creative technology.

MDXG focuses on local companies that have demonstrated product export readiness, high-value technological activities, innovative and sustainable services for expansion to the global market with maximum project duration of up to one year.

MDCG provides support to technology companies to stimulate the use and development of sustainable and innovative solutions in line with the promoted sectors under Malaysia Digital (MD) based on 4IR technology, with maximum project duration of up to one year.
