As the country’s COVID-19 vaccination efforts gather pace, Desaru Coast – one of Malaysia’s premium beach destinations, was quick to lend its resources towards the nation’s vaccination programme.
In line with the above, Desaru Coast Conference Centre is now a COVID-19 vaccination centre for Phase 1 involving frontliners in the Kota Tinggi district. The 26,000 square foot conference centre, managed by The Westin Desaru Coast Resort, will serve as the only vaccination centre for frontliners in the Kota Tinggi district.
Vaccinations carried out by the Ministry of Health began on 1st March and will continue until 11th March to include about 2,000 frontliners comprising health personnel, members of the Armed Forces, Police and Bomba.
Vaccinations at the Desaru Coast Conference Centre will follow the schedule of the National COVID-19 Immunisation Plan, which will see the inoculation of frontliners from February to April 2021, followed by senior citizens and those in high-risk groups from April to August 2021.
Kota Tinggi District Officer Hajah Hazlina binti Jalil, expressed her gratitude to Desaru Coast for its contribution towards the vaccination programme which reflects the excellent collaboration between the private and public sectors to ensure a successful national vaccination exercise.
“Desaru Coast was chosen as the venue because of its easy access for frontliners and residents. In addition the Desaru Coast Conference Centre is large and comfortable for those receiving their vaccinations, especially for Phase 2 which involves senior citizens and the disabled. I sincerely hope that residents of Kota Tinggi will take part in this vaccination exercise so that the Kota Tinggi district will eventually become a green zone. We would like to thank the management of Desaru Coast for their gracious generosity in not only providing their venue and facilities for this purpose, but also their manpower to assist us in our efforts to ensure this programme will be a success,” said Hajah Hazlina.
Roslina Arbak, Managing Director and CEO of Desaru Development Holdings One Sdn Bhd said, “We are certainly proud to have been chosen as a venue for the national vaccination programme for the Kota Tinggi district. We are more than happy to support this important exercise and rally our support as part of the private sector to curb the COVID-19 pandemic nationwide.
