PTP and JPA volunteers plant 600 mangrove saplings in Tanjung Adang coastal area

Port of Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a member of MMC Group, together with Johor Port Authority (JPA) and Kelab Alami Mukim Tanjung Kupang continue to reinforce its commitment in managing the local eco-system by collaborating in the planting of 600 mangrove saplings in Tanjung Adang coastal area near Gelang Patah, Johor.

About 100 volunteers, consisting of staff from PTP and JPA as well as volunteers from Kelab Alami including Dr. Serina Rahman and various other government agencies took part in the mangrove tree planting event that aims to help in environmental conservation and to build a path for the natural environment sustainability, especially around the area where PTP and JPA operate.

During the event launching ceremony, Lembaga Pelabuhan Johor General Manager, Muhammad Razif Bin Ahmad, remarked that the mangrove conservation and restoration programme is just one of the many social responsibility programmes that both LPJ and PTP collaborate, as means to provide valuable contribution to sustainable natural and environmental preservation.

Volunteers consisting of staff from PTP and JPA as well as volunteers from Kelab Alami and various other government agencies such as from Iskandar Puteri Municipal Council, Department of Environment, Department of Forestry and Marine Department took part in the mangrove tree planting event

“Apart from the mangrove planting programme, LPJ has also successfully introduced a comprehensive Green Port Policy that acts as a general guide for all port operators in Johor in moving towards more sustainable green port environment,” he added.
PTP Chief Executive Officer, Marco Neelsen remarked that PTP have long recognised the importance of preserving the natural environment that sustains all life on the earth for future generations and will continue to embark on a long term journey to conserve and preserve the environment.
