The Johor Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) has taken note of issues and complaints related to non-compliance with pricing for some items controlled by the Hari Raya Puasa 2021 Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP), ahead of Hari Raya that falls tomorrow on 13th May 2021.
According to a statement dated 12th May 2021 by Dr Chong Fat Full, state Unity, Trade, Consumer Affairs Committee chairman, the enforcement personnel of KPDNHEP Johor had conducted inspections and took strict actions to ensure implementation and compliance in terms of sales prices are complied with as gazetted in the Hari Raya Puasa Maximum Price Scheme (HRP) 2021 effective 21st April, 2021 until 20th May, 2021.
The inspection of daily necessities will be increased to ensure that traders comply with Maximum Price Scheme. Monitoring of the supply stock of essential goods to be sufficient during the festive season and Movement Control Order (MCO) period.
200 enforcement members of KPDNHEP throughout the state have found that a total of 98.5% of traders from a total of 5,900 retail premises, wholesalers and manufacturers complied with the enforcement of SHMMP throughout the implementation while assuring that the supply of essential goods is adequate.
Based on records, during the SHMMP Hari Raya Puasa period from 21st April 2021 until today, a total of 5,900 premises were inspected throughout Johor, covering 5,797 retailers, 63 wholesalers and 40 manufacturers through Ops Pantau 2021. 98.5% of them have complied with the enforcement of SHMMP.
A total of 84 cases were recorded during the period with a total of RM 11,550.00 compounds.
Among the offenses involved are 57 cases of failing to put price tags on goods displayed for sale, 16 cases of selling above a predetermined control price and 11 cases of failure to place a pink price tag for price controlled goods.
