Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim has announced the Special Rate of Summons Payment starting from 21 April until 21 May 2023 for all PDRM traffic summons (2022 and previous offences).
Each suit can be settled with only RM50.
The special rate was implemented for the first time by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), according to Datuk Seri Mat Kasim Karim, Director of the Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT), to allow for the settlement of summonses for non-compoundable offences.
According to him, the reduction of nearly 85 to 86% illustrates the government’s determination to contribute to the provision of facilities to the people by decreasing the responsibilities experienced by the community.
This includes traffic crimes that cannot be compounded and call for an immediate court appearance, he said.
In a Facebook post, PDRM stated that they are prepared with a number of summons payment systems to facilitate the public through the channels listed below:
- i) Mybayar Saman application
- ii) All IPK and IPD traffic payment counters (working days)
iii) Maybank ATM machines nationwide
- iv) All Pos Malaysia office counters
The statement also encouraged the public to register as MyBayar Saman users to skip the long queues at the traffic payment counter.
