What if I told you that having a year-end festive season’s magical moments is as easy as going to downtown Johor Bahru at Makan Kitchen in the DoubleTree by Hilton?
Let me walk you through the beautiful array of dishes that ultimately spells out merriment for everyone at the end of their magical year.
When it comes to the year end’s celebration, it has to be the protein roasts and the desserts. The Angus Beef Whole Leg stood tall and the way the pieces of meat easily flaked off with the chef’s skillful slicing technique really drew people in. Me included!
Worth queuing for, the slices of beef, despite me taking them without any sauce to taste it as it is, was rich in flavor; a luxury that I am pleased with.
Just right beside the whole leg is an offering that any spice-adventurous seekers would love to have on their plate – the Beef Short Rib. I glazed them over with a spicy, chilli-laden sauce that resembles so much of the green chilli sambal, and it was a perfect, melt in the mouth bite. It goes so well with the hot and fluffy jasmine rice that is available near the Bakar-bakar and Pasta sections. Speaking of sambal, do try out the Sambal Seafood selection too. Save some space for a few sticks of sweet, Chicken and Beef Satay as well.
Cleansing my palate with the freshly raw salmon pieces and beetroot salad at the cold food section, I then looked forward to trying out the deserts, beautifully presented right at the entrance of Makan Kitchen.
Your little ones would love the Santa Claus and Yule log cakes. Worry free for the picky eaters as the dessert section also offers freshly-cooked waffles, with numerous options of spreads to go with, from strawberry jams to peanut butter and chocolate. Speaking of children, they can indulge in a bit of play time at the activities corner for children right at the Makan Kitchen hall, while the adults could spend more time savouring food or indulge in extensive chit-chats.
Making my discussion a little more delicious were the creamy, sugary goodness of the Mont Blanc cake and the freshly-cut guava with drops of grapes. A good catch-up always ends with a fresh cup of black coffee, made from the coffee machines that are available around, and to make it Malaysian, have a cup of frothy Teh Tarik that is lauded to be one of the best in town.
The Festive Weekday Lunch Buffet is currently ongoing until the 29th of December, priced at RM78 per adult and children at RM39.
Their Festive Dinner Buffet is until the 30th of December, and starts at RM128 for adults and RM64 for children.
Meanwhile, have the ultimate spread at the Christmas Dinner Buffet and Christmas High Tea Buffet from 22nd – 25th December. The price starts at RM128 per adult and starts at RM64 per child.
If you can’t make it for Christmas, you can still enjoy a similar spread at the New Year’s Eve Dinner Buffet and the New Year’s Day High Tea Buffet from 31st December 2023 to 1st January 2024. The price starts at RM98 per adult and RM49 per child.
