Emelyn Rosales, the recently appointed General Manager of the Holiday Inn Johor Bahru City Centre (HIJBCC), has made her first foray into the neighbourhood by participating in a heartfelt charity event at the Persatuan Perlindungan dan Peliharaan Haiwan Tebrau Skudai – Homeless & Orphan Pets Exist (H.O.P.E) animal shelter in Pekan Nanas. This activity is a part of IHG’s Giving for Good Month, a global campaign with the goal of improving communities all around the world.

Originally from the Philippines, Emelyn Rosales joined HIJBCC team in May, bringing with her a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry. Her IHG journey began in 2021 when she served as the General Manager of Holiday Inn Baguio. Before joining the IHG family, she held key positions, including General Manager and Director of Sales and Marketing, at various renowned hotels and resorts in the Philippines and Vietnam. Her extensive sales and marketing background has made her a valuable addition to the team.

IHG’s Giving for Good Month, which takes place in September, brings IHG properties from all over the world together to support local charities. IHG, which operates more than 6,300 hotels across more than 100 nations, is aware of the positive effects working together can have on the world. IHG’s dedication to its ‘Journey to Tomorrow’ mission, which seeks to have a positive impact on the lives of 30 million people worldwide, is demonstrated through this effort.

Emelyn Rosales, along with a team of 25 dedicated team members from the hotel, visited Iskandar Malaysia Social Hero Awards 2014 winner, HOPE JB, an animal shelter dedicated to the welfare of abandoned animals. Their activities included showering the furry pals, cleaning cages, and ensuring a comfortable environment for these beloved beings. The team also spent quality time with the animals, offering them love and support. Further aiding the shelter’s noble cause, the team also donated 50 kilogrammes of pet food and 80 kilogrammes of sand for pet litters boxes.

“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to shower love on these animals. It’s my first charity event in this city since I arrived in Johor Bahru, and it has been a profoundly moving experience. We often forget other living beings when we engage in acts of charity, and I hope that these actions can be a reminder to others that our compassion should extend to all creatures,” said Emelyn.
