As a one-stop centre for investors to discover various business opportunities in Johor, the Johor State Investment Centre or in short known as JSIC, was first established on 16th August 2004 under a direct administrative order of the Johor state government. After 15 years of using the name JSIC, they have now re-branded themselves as ‘Invest Johor’ effective of 27th November 2019.

The rebranding was officiated and launched by their direct purview; Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal, and witnessed by State International Trade, Investment and Utilities Committee chairman Jimmy Puah Wee Tse, State Secretary of Johor, Azmi Rohani and Invest Johor General Manager, Haji Miswan bin Yunos at Fraser Place Puteri Harbour, Iskandar Puteri.

“The justification of Invest Johor’s rebranding is timely as the world today is more about something accurate and clear. The word ‘Invest’ itself defined its function and role clearly and this is especially true in the international context. ‘Johor’ (the name) helps the world to locate the place to invest in, i.e. investing in Johor. Therefore, the new branding is apt,” said Jimmy Puah.

Dr Sahruddin Jamal shared that The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) recorded that the state of Johor has managed to attract a total of RM30.5 billion in domestic and foreign investments, an increase of RM8.6 billion compared to 2017, and it is the highest achievement in the country’s history.

“The Johor State Investment Master Plan 2020-2030 will be drafted to outline the direction of the investment sector in the state. It will enhance the competitiveness and value of investment productivity in Johor,” he added, hoping that with the rebranding effort, it will continue to attract more investors while maintaining investment-related promotions.
