Flying to and fro South and North Malaysia is now made possible by a route directly connecting Johor Bahru and Kota Bharu. Firefly Airlines’ inaugural flight FY2349, which departed from Sultan Ismail Petra Airport, Kota Bharu, Kelantan at 11.30am, arrived at Senai International Airport, Johor Bahru, Johor at 1.10pm on 17th December 2019.

Welcoming the arrival of passengers on the first direct flight from KBR to JHB were Johor Tourism, Women, Family and Community Development Committee chairman, Liow Cai Tung along with Firefly CEO, Philip See and CEO of Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd (SATSSB), Md Derick Basir.
The flight to and fro KBR-JHB takes 1 hour and 40 minutes, in comparison to driving which can take up to 9 hours. This new route will fly 3 times weekly on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and makes up a total of 12 domestic and 7 international routes for the airline.
Firefly has partnered with Tourism Johor to promote tourism products of Johor State in Kelantan such as Desaru Coast, Legoland, the beauty of the islands and the natural beauty of Johor. Various travel packages are being developed and will be for sale in Johor in the near future. Johor is well-served by its excellent network of hotels, latest travel products and a variety of programs in conjunction with Visit Johor Year 2020.
Md Derick Basir added that travelers can look forward to more international routes that will fly directly from Senai Airport in year 2020 and amongst them are Medan, Shenzhen and a few cities in Japan.
