Sixty corporations and companies participated in offering over 1,000 vacancies at the Iskandar Malaysia Employment Fair (IMEF) 2019 on 30th November 2019. This annual career fair has been organised by Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) since its inauguration in 2015. Hosted at Grand Paragon Hotel, Johor Bahru, the fair opened more opportunities for the southern region’s job seekers.

“According to the Budget 2020, as presented by the Prime Minister recently, RM5 billion has been allocated for ‘Malaysia @ Work’ and is expected to provide job opportunities for Malaysians, especially the youth, for the next 5 years,” Education, Human Resource, Science and Technology committee chairman Aminolhuda Hassan said in his speech.

“In line with the government’s focus, I welcome the IMEF 2019 programme as an important human capital development initiative especially for Johor’s citizens who are looking for career opportunities in Iskandar Malaysia,” he added.

IMEF 2019 functions as a one-stop platform that helps both local and expatriates explore and apply for vacancies available in Iskandar Malaysia. The program also serves as a ‘job-matching’ initiative between employers from various industries and job seekers, either fresh graduates or those with prior work experience.

“Despite the challenges of the global economy and the competition from neighbouring countries like Singapore, Iskandar Malaysia is still able to create a stable working environment with a variety of facilities for locals and foreigners to live, work, invest or enjoy here. This IMEF programme is one of the proofs of this region’s achievements and capabilities,” IRDA Chief Executive Datuk Ismail Ibrahim said.

Among the companies involved in IMEF 2019 were Johor Land Berhad, Frost & Sullivan, Regency Specialist Hospital, UMLand, Senai Airport, Tanjung Pelepas Port, Starbucks, The Westin Desaru Coast Resort, Legoland Malaysia, Marrybrown, Parkson, AEON, The Chicken Rice Shop, YTL Communications and Hard Rock Hotel.
