Mobilising the tourism industry in one heart towards Visit Malaysia Year 2020

A state level of engagement session had taken place at Holiday Villa, Johor Bahru where the Ministry of Tourism, Tourism Johor and tourism industry key players had assembled to understand the objectives of Visit Malaysia Year 2020 along with Visit Johor 2020.

The engagement session included a travel mart in between sellers and buyers of domestic and international alike and participating brands and companies from a wide range of hotels and travel agencies in Johor offered off-peak season packages to domestic and international buyers.

Zulkifly Md Said, Deputy Director General of Tourism Malaysia stressed on the importance to increase a safe environment, provide better service and made cleanliness a priority in order to make the state a tourist’s choice to travel. He also mentioned the need of tourism agencies in supplying packages that would woo the interest of young people which includes scenic and social media-friendly tourist spots.

Zihan Ismail, Director of Johor Tourism briefed on her unit’s preparation that includes familiarisation trip with potential foreign travel agencies and by introducing the state’s destination at international travel fairs. A brief was also given by Cao Parties, a video-based mobile application to promote places in Johor that has gained a lot of interest from Chinese-speaking tourists to visit Johor.

The Travel Mart and Engagement Session was officiated by Johor Tourism, Women, Family and Community Development Committee chairman, Liow Cai Tung. In her pre-launch speech, she stated her portfolio placed Visit Johor 2020 and Visit Malaysia Year 2020 as a high priority. Citing the 320 pax participations in the Travel Mart and engagement session, with 70 sellers from Johor and 250 buyers of both domestic and foreign, she stated that the focus should be the whole 10 districts of Johor state and with that, she has announced 20 events within the 10 districts to promote domestic attraction.
