‘Jom Pi Makan’ offers a wide array of buffet of the northern specialties
I dream of going on food hunting in Penang but going up to the north for the sake of enjoying rojak and cendol would take more than 8-hour drive from the south. But luck is by my side as I don’t have to travel far for that as Pulai Springs Resort is offering a ‘Jom Pi Makan’ Penang buffet promotion at the all-day dining Cinta Terrace Restaurant on selected weekends in October!
Just by entering the buffet space, all unique flavours of Penang is there. Prepared by Chef Ronny Koh, Pulai Spring’s Resort Chef De Cuisine, the buffet includes hawker-style live cooking stations too. Remember to take a little walk at the extended stalls outside, where the piping hot Fried Oyster Egg (Orh Chien) and Char Kway Teow is prepared with ceiling-hit fire show!
The waft of Kari Kepala Ikan just calls me to grab plenty of white rice and pick up that Penangite specialty. Complementing my plate of rice are the greens like fried cauliflower and Kerabu Mangga that gives me complete flavours of sweet, sour and spicy.
Pasembur and rojak are what I call the thing that reminds me of the pearl state. I argued with my companion on how it is different; the gravy and the way it is prepared are just distinctly different. If you like savoury, spicy taste and big on shrimps, my suggestion would be Pasembur, whereas Rojak buah or rojak, is for that sweet and sour fans with refreshing sengkuang, cucumber and beansprouts bits.
The ‘Jom Pi Makan’ Penang Buffet promotion is so affordable at RM40nett per adult and only RM20nett per child. 5 paying adults would get 1 guest to dine for free!
