200 families received their much needed food aid from local NGO

To some, independence day means being patriotic to one’s country and being there for the people and Care United Johor Bahru (Care United) did exactly that by not forgetting those in need when they gave out charity aid at two different venues to reach a wider community of people.

On day one, the first round of aid was distributed to 100 families at Bilik Gerakan Badan Kebajikan Islam Kampung Melayu Majidee and the second aid the next day for another 100 families at Dewan Besar Kompleks Tan Sri Mohamed Rahmat, Kampung Skudai Kiri, Johor Bahru.

The 200 families were carefully selected by the head of each village that needed help the most, and according to Melanie Cheong, VP of Finance for Care United Johor Bahru, “Most of the recipients are repeated receivers of aid due to their circumstances and the organisation is very close to the families and helps them in time of need”Moreover, if they require resources of any kind, Care United would connect them to the right channel as one of their continuous efforts to aid the families.

Each family received one food aid hamper consisting food essentials and necessities such as 10kg rice, cooking oil, canned food, condensed milk and etc all packed in a handy shopping carrier. Valued at RM50 per recipient, Care United had allocated a sum of RM10,000 for the project aiming to help families reduce their household expenses.
