Iskandar Malaysia Social Hero Awards (IMSHA) connects with the community
Kindness is a word that is easily said, stated, and then actually doing it. In this urban and modern world, a lot of things obstruct us to do one simple genuine act of kindness even such as a smile towards a person where our eyes meet or paths that cross, let alone other acts of kindness like lending a helping hand.
Iskandar Malaysia Social Hero Awards (IMSHA) squad went out with baskets full of yellow roses recently at KOMTAR, JBCC with one aim – to start a kind gesture and make them extend the kindness to the next person they have in mind.
According to Sheila Grewal, Development and Partnership of IMSHA, “Yellow roses were chosen for this cause for its universal interpretation of joy, happiness and friendship”. Historically, yellow rose is also associated with the sun, making it an excellent choice to cheer people up while also sending a message of appreciation and love.
Recipient of the roses were subsequently asked to make someone’s day either by handing out the same rose or with other similar kind gestures so that kindness continue to organically spread that day.
Two of the rose recipients whom are auxiliary police of KOMTAR JBCC, were caught off guard when presented with the roses but were grateful as it brightened their day while on duty.
IMSHA is looking into doing more similar gestures and events in the near future to rejuvenate and energise the urban environment.
