30 special needs children from a local community rehabilitation centre had a great feast and a wonderful time at the Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel

Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel (Renaissance JB) had hosted 30 special needs children from a local community rehabilitation centre to a ‘RENtastic Mai Makan-Makan’ dinner buffet in conjunction with the holy fasting month.

The rehab centre or also known as Pusat Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti (PDK) is a day school located in Bandar Baru Permas Jaya which provides elementary education to the children with special needs.

The children of the PDK ranges from those with Down’s syndrome, Hyperactivity, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, and a few other special cases. The PDK acts as a one-stop station in providing care services and facilitating the local community with valuable information, appropriate training and advice for both the children and guardians.

Happy faces and full tummies

“Being in the hospitality industry does not restrict us to just being good hosts to our guests. We believe that sharing hospitality and kindness goes beyond our comfort zones and it is important that we remember the less fortunate to remind us for the things we take for granted in life, especially during the fasting season,” said Gagan Deep Singh, General Manager of Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel.

The buka puasa or breaking of the fast with the special needs children of the PDK serves as one of the initiatives under the hotel’s “Spirit to Serve” programme that encourages unity among the hotel ambassadors and management by sharing happiness during special moments such as breaking fast during the holy month.
