With their first fully sponsored wedding, Ketti Mellam Exhibition & Services has reached a new milestone.

On this momentous occasion, Ketti Mellam partnered with 16 specialists in the wedding business for the first time to give back to the community by completing a couple’s dream wedding for free.  At a cost of about RM100,000, the wedding is a testament to the sponsors’ extraordinary generosity and the strength of community cooperation in producing a genuinely unique occasion.

In front of family, friends, and sponsors who helped make the occasion possible, the bride, Sopna A/P Anbalagan, and the groom, Brusechothoman, exchanged vows in Moxsha Hall, Permas Sports Complex, Johor Bahru.

“This event would not have been possible without the generous contributions of our sponsors who came forward to support this idea. It is truly a teamwork achievement. Every contribution, big or small, played a vital role in making this event a reality,” said Saravana Kumar A/L Vengitan, Founder & Director of Ketti Mellam Exhibition & Services.

From the original concept to the couple selection and months of meticulous planning, the planning for this historic wedding started nearly 18 months ago in August 2024 and culminated in today’s momentous ceremony.

Between December 2024 and January 2025, 58 had couples applied. After six couples made it to the short list, there was a round of video submissions and interviews.  Bruce and Sopna were chosen because of their difficult life experiences.

Brusechothoman, a truck mechanic by trade, was raised in an orphanage from the age of eleven to seventeen. Sopna works as a clerk and was raised by a single mother. Their union is a symbol of strength, hope, and the victory of love over adversity.

“Being raised in an orphanage, I never thought I would have a wedding like this one day. We sincerely thank all of the sponsors and organisers who helped us realise our dream,” Brusechothoman said.

“This wedding is more than just a celebration for us – it is a blessing. If it hadn’t happened now, we’re not sure when it would have; maybe three or four years down the road. We thank everyone who stood by us and made this day possible. We will carry this kindness in our hearts forever,” said Sopna.

Known for hosting wedding expos in Johor Bahru, Ketti Mellam Exhibition & Services hopes that this accomplishment will spur more cooperative projects. The group has also revealed plans for their upcoming project, which will support successful B40 students.

This wedding is a historic occasion that exemplifies the strength of solidarity, giving, and camaraderie in Malaysia in addition to being a celebration of love.
