The opening match of the Malaysian League, the Charity Cup Match also known as the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Cup between Johor Darul Ta’zim Football Club (JDT) and Selangor FC tonight, has been sold out online.

The clash between the two best clubs in the Malaysian League will be held at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, JDT’s home ground, where the Selangor FC team will travel to meet JDT in the Charity Match, which will also serve as the first match of the Super League.

Johor Southern Tigers’s social sites, the official mouthpiece of JDT, announced tickets to be sold out online earlier, a day ahead of the kickoff.

Malaysia’s Charity Cup held a match between the overall champion of the previous season’s Super League against the champion of the Malaysian cup.

As JDT has dominated both Super league and Malaysian cup for the past season, Selangor FC as the league’s runners-up take up the opposition spot for this season’s match.

Known as the curtain raiser match to mark the new Super league’s season, it was founded in 1985.

Since 2016, the match played in this cup is also considered the first match of the league season, where the league points are awarded.

JDT will face Selangor FC on Friday, 8th August 2025, 9pm. Match is broadcasted on Astro and its affiliate streaming site, Sooka.
