RTS Operations Pte. Ltd. (RTSO) has announced that the rail system works on the Johor Bahru-Singapore RTS Link project are advancing steadily and have achieved good progress of about 50%.

After gaining access to the Wadi Hana Depot in September 2024, track installation works commenced.

The track spans about 5.3 km from the depot, connecting to the mainline towards Bukit Chagar station, the viaducts, and continues towards Woodlands North station.

Following the official opening of the RTSO Corporate Office in Johor Bahru on 5th February 2025, the company also organised the inaugural RTSO Safety Forum, where contractors and partners engaged in discussions on safety.

It is a shared responsibility to ensure that works are to be carried out in a safe manner at all times.

The installation of the track-work, which started at Wadi Hana Depot, is progressing well, with over 65% of the work now completed.

This includes the installation of concrete sleepers and running rails, and securing them with fastening clips. Looking ahead, we expect the track-work to extend towards Woodlands North station in Singapore and be completed by July.

Other system installation works at the depot will take place in phases. From March, the installation of traction power, signalling, and communications systems will commence.

“The RTS Link project marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to enhance regional connectivity. We deeply appreciate the support of the two infrastructure companies from Malaysia and Singapore (InfraCos) for granting us timely access to commence works. As the operator of the RTS Link, our focus is ensuring operational readiness and the successful, on-time completion of the project to provide a safe, efficient, and world-class commuting experience. Our goal is to deliver a reliable transport service that alleviates congestion and strengthen cross-border connectivity,” said Dr Ahmad Marzuki Ariffin, CEO of RTS Operations Pte. Ltd.

Zahrin Abdul Gani, Project Director, RTS Operations Pte. Ltd., said, “We are pleased to report that the system implementation phase of the RTS Link project is progressing well. In the coming months, our key focus will be on critical systems, including track-work, rolling stock, traction power, and the seamless integration of signalling and control systems. Safety is our top priority, and we are working closely with all stakeholders—including our system consultant, contractors, infrastructure companies (InfraCos), and the various government agencies—to achieve our Vision Zero Accidents. Our dedicated team, comprising seconded personnel from both Prasarana and SMRT, is working tirelessly to ensure the timely completion of this strategic bilateral project, which will bring benefits to both countries.”

RTS Operations is committed to ensuring the successful and timely completion of the project.

When completed, the RTS Link will deliver a seamless, efficient, and groundbreaking transportation solution.

This project reflects our shared goal to create more economic opportunities, strengthen ties between Malaysia and Singapore, and bring growth to communities on both sides of the border.
