The Poh Kong Ladies Golf Series 2.0, Malaysia’s largest women’s  golf tournament, successfully concluded its second edition at Horizon Hills Golf & Country Club. This event, organised under the auspices of the MGA Women in Golf Charter (WIGC), continues to break new ground in women’s  golf, promoting  not only competition but also the empowerment of women in the sport, both as players and in career roles within the golf industry.

In the Individual Lady Division, Sunny Teh emerged as the champion with a score of 42 stableford point, showcasing remarkable skill and determination. Upon receiving her award, she expressed her gratitude, stating, “I am truly honoured to be part of such a remarkable tournament. I want to thank WIGC and Poh Kong for creating this platform for us to shine, and  for setting a new standard in ladies’ golf tournaments in Malaysia.”

The  Poh  Kong  Ladies  Golf  Series  continues to lead  the  way  as Malaysia’s  largest women’s  golf  tournament. Since its inception  in 2023  with three  successful  legs in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, the tournament has provided an unmatched platform for female golfers across the country to showcase their talent. Last year’s  event made headlines when Tan Mei Yee achieved a hole-in-one, winning a Peugeot 2008 worth RM140,000 — a thrilling start that set the tone for the entire series. This season, with its expansion beyond the Klang Valley to Johor Bahru, the event has solidified its role as a national force, promoting  women’s  participation in golf and  fostering opportunities for women to advance their careers within the sport.

“At Poh Kong, we have always believed in empowering women, and the Poh Kong Golf Series is a perfect reflection of that commitment. We are thrilled to see the series grow in stature and inclusivity, and we are incredibly proud to be part of this journey that brings together both passion and precision on the golf course,” said Elizabeth Choon, Senior Marketing Manager of Poh Kong.

Dato’  Merina  Gan,  Chairman  of the  MGA Women  in Golf  Charter, highlighted  the significance of the tournament in achieving WIGC’s broader mission. “The Poh Kong Golf Series exemplifies our aspirations to be a pivotal force in empowering women through the game of golf. It’s about more than just a competition, it’s about building a community of women who inspire each other, break barriers, and raise the standard of the sport. We’re excited to see how this platform continues to evolve and elevate women’s golf in Malaysia.”

The MGA Women in Golf Charter aims to continue playing a pivotal role in promoting and developing the role of women in golf, from the grassroots to the elite level. With the resounding success of the Poh Kong Golf Series, WIGC is poised to further its mission of creating more opportunities for women to participate in the game, while fostering leadership, sportsmanship, and a passion for golf.
