In collaboration with the World Cleanup Day 2024 Programme, 3,236 volunteers helped collect approximately 4,645 tonnes of trash from 1,468 locations nationwide on 28th September.

Based on the total, the state of Johor was able to document the collection of 211.06 tonnes of waste through 98 sites that were chosen to carry out the initiative.

Johor State Housing and Local Government Exco, Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor, stated that the initiative has the potential to improve cleanliness throughout Malaysia, particularly in Johor, and to increase public awareness of the importance of maintaining cleanliness.

He also reminded the public that if they are found to be littering anywhere, they could face legal action and fines of up to RM2,000 during the Johor 2024 State Level World Cleanup Day (WCD) Programme at Gunung Pulai Satu Rimba Eco Park.

From eight in the morning until eight in the evening, the programme ran for twelve hours, and was rolled out at 97 more locations on the 28th September and at another location on the 29th of September.
