The current dengue epidemic in the state of Johor decreased by 6.4% in Epidemiological Week 40/2023 compared to the previous week, Chairman of the Johor State Health and Unity Committee, Ling Tian Soon, reportedly said.

He said in his speech that Johor Bahru had the highest number of dengue cases with 163 cases in the Epidemiological Week 40/2023 compared to Week 39/2023, followed by Kulai (24) and Batu Pahat (7).

Tian Soon also stated that, in order to prevent the outbreak, health personnel will continue to destroy breeding grounds, in addition to enforcement actions that have resulted in the issuance of 4,499 compounds worth RM2.18 million.

“I encourage the ‘Bangsa Johor’ to participate in the ‘Johor Bersih’ programme launched by the State Government so that we can together ensure the cleanliness of our state,” said Tian Soon.

“The discovery of breeding places and breeding risk areas within the house shows that the community is still unaware of the importance of cleaning and destroying risky areas. Therefore, the community must tidy up their own homes by engaging in search and destroy exercise for ten minutes at each location — both at home and at work,” he concluded.
