Changhuat Plastic Industries (Senai) Sdn Bhd (CHP) announced its collabouration with the Malaysia Prison Department, participating under the Corporate Smart Internship Programme (CSI), a noble government initiative that is aimed at providing employment for parolees, facilitating the Prison Department’s objective of rehabilitating parolees into society as part of the nation’s labour force.

As part of the manufacturing sector, Changhuat Plastic Industries (Senai) Sdn Bhd (CHP) upholds the company’s Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) values.

CHP affirms non-discrimination employment policies and advocates equal job opportunities for all Malaysians, regardless of gender, religion, ethnicity, political affiliation, or personal background.

To date, 17 female parolees have been successfully placed as operators at CHP, and an additional 33 are expected to join the company within the next three months.

Accommodation at a nearby residential area and daily transportation are provided for the parolees.

Their parole officer monitors them, and RSG Sdn. Bhd., an appointed job placement agency by the Prison Department, professionally handles pre and post-recruitment coordination. When the parolees are released, the CHP will extend job offers that include equal opportunities for job advancement and skill development.

“Beginning in 2017, the Malaysian Prisons Department introduced the Corporate Smart Internship (CSI) programme.”

“This programme is an initiative of the Malaysian Prisons Department to increase efforts in assisting prison inmates or prospects in obtaining job opportunities and returning to society. The goal of this programme is to provide a second chance for Prospects Among Parolees (ODP) and Licenced Persons (OBB) to begin a new life after release.”

“Furthermore, the implementation of this programme has the potential to reduce government costs as well as the number of prisoners,” said Johor State Prison Director, Deputy Commissioner of Prisons, TKP Mohamad bin Ismail.

“I welcome increased industry participation in Johor to provide our parolees with a second chance.”

“Interested industries or employers may contact the State Prison Office to discuss the application process for placing candidates in their respective companies.

Employers do not need to worry, because every parolee sent out to work will be monitored by the District Parole Officer.

If anyone has further questions and enquiries, they may contact the Johor Bahru District Parole Office at 07-2381400 (Counter) or 07-2357900 (PPD) and Ready Set Go Sdn Bhd at 011-10574459 or 011-10584459
