KPKT Empowers Livable Affordable Homes with RM267.76 Million Provision for People of Johor

The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) has continued the KPKT Sentuhan Kasih tour series to the state of Johor as proof of KPKT’s commitment to improving the well-being of the people in Johor.

KPKT through the National Housing Department (JPN), PR1MA Malaysia Corporation (PR1MA) and Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB), has built 26,662 housing units in the state as of 31st July 2024, as detailed below:

i. People’s Housing Programme (PPR) of 12,295 units (14 housing projects);

i. PR1MA of 4,479 units (6 housing projects); and

iii. SPNB through Rumah Mesra Rakyat (RMR) of 7,909 units and SPNB Residences of 1,979 units (3 housing projects).

The Minister of Housing and Local Government, Nga Kor Ming, completed the symbolic handover of keys to the Pelangi Indah Residency House under PR1MA.

This residence consists of 720 residential units with an area of ​​850 to 1,050 square feet (kps). It is equipped with various community facilities, such as a surau, children’s playground, kindergarten, nursery, multi-purpose hall, and meeting room.

The Pelangi Indah Residency, which was completed on 6th March 2023, also won the Award of Excellence for the Government Project Category in conjunction with Safety and Health, Environment, and Quality Day (SHEQ Day) 2023 organised by the Malaysian Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB).

According to Nga, “KPKT always strives to offer affordable, high-quality residential units as well as sustainable, comfortable urban planning through its departments and agencies for the well-being of the people.”

At the same event, Nga also witnessed the launch of the Pelangi Indah Residence PR1MA Community Fire Brigade, which is an initiative through strategic collaboration between PR1MA and the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM).

The establishment of the Community Fire Department aims to increase safety awareness and fire prevention practices as well as foster a caring attitude among the local community.

KM also submitted an allocation of RM4 million for the Local Plan Study of Johor Bahru City Council, Johor 2035 (replacement) and the Local Plan Study of Iskandar Puteri City Council, Johor 2035 (replacement).

In addition, an allocation of RM1 million was handed over for the Safe City Programme: Blackspot Area Whitening Initiative to strengthen the sustainable and smart city agenda towards new townships to three (3) local authorities (PBT) namely the Muar Municipal Council, the Kulai Municipal Council, and the District Council High City.

KPKT also allocated a total of RM3,504,647.84 under the Non-Islamic House of Worship Initiative (RIBI) to 32 RIBIs in Johor.

Nga and the KPKT team also visited five other projects and programmes under the supervision of KPKT including Kampung Baru Plentong Basketball Court upgrade project; Jalan Biru Stall upgrading project, Taman Pelangi; Inauguration of PPR Kempas Permai Recycling Centre, Replacement project of 21 Kempas Permai PPR Elevator Units and Mortgage Tax Premises “Dr Pajak” Bandar Selesa Jaya.

Also present were the Johor Bahru City Council Mayor, Dato’ Haji Mohd. Noorazam bin Dato’ Haji Osman, Iskandar Puteri City Council Mayor, Dato’ Haji Mohd Haffiz Bin Haji Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer of PR1MA, Datuk Seri Haji Mohd Nazri bin Md. Sharif, the top management of KPKT and local community leaders.
