Johor Zoo Will Re-Open to the Public on 31st August 2024

The country's oldest zoo also offers the lowest ticket price and special concession for a month

Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi had announced that the refurbishment of the Johor Zoo has been completed and will be open to the public on the 31st of August 2024 and, the inauguration of the zoo, will be done by the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, on 28th August.

In addition, Johor Zoo continues to maintain the lowest ticket rates in the country, which are RM10 for adults, RM5 for children and senior citizens and RM30 for foreign tourists. Meanwhile, for the local disabled peple (OKU), the entry will be free.

Onn Hafiz has also announced a special offer for local residents with a 50% discount during the first month of the Johor Zoo opening.

Johor Zoo’s latest operating hours start at 9.00am to 6.00pm and the last call for ticket purchase is at 5.00pm.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar donated the Johor Palace’s pet animals, such as the Striped Tigers, Tapirs and Sun Bears to the Johor Zoo.

The Johor Zoo used to be the late Sultan Sir Ibrahim ibni Sultan Sir Abu Bakar zoo, which was designed to house His Majesty’s personal animal collection and to be symbolic of the continent or country he had visited.

On 1st April 1962, the Zoo was handed over to the State Government to be opened to the public.

The zoo covers an area of ​​4.73 hectares, with a collection of 275 animals from 53 species, including in the categories of Mammals, Primates, Reptiles, and Birds.
