The Southern Zone MADANI Rakyat 2024 programme at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) concluded with a record attendance of 220,048 visitors over its three-day event.
The programme concluded with the launch of the People’s Welfare Insurance Scheme (SIKR) 2.0 by Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim. It began on 1st June 2024 and will end on 31st May 2025, with a RM18 million allocation to assist 300,000 Heads of Household (KIR), with the goal of providing social protection to the country’s poor and extremely poor.
The Southern Zone MADANI Rakyat 2024 programme was organised by the Prime Minister’s Office through the Performance Acceleration Coordination Unit (PACU) in strategic collaboration with the Ministry of Economy and the Johor government.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, and Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli were in attendance at the ‘Ask the Prime Minister’ dialogue session.
The MADANI Rakyat programme revolved around a Year of MADANI Economy, which showcased the achievements and benefits of the MADANI Economy to the people through various initiatives and continuous commitment to empowering the people, entrepreneurs, and industry.
In the Business Matching session (PADANIAGA), 22 companies have participated in 41 meeting sessions with anchor companies, with a total sales potential of RM3.8 million. As of the end of the third day, the recorded sales value exceeded RM800,000, said the Ministry of Economy in its statement.
The programme provided 175 direct services specifically for the public through 34 booths set up by ministries, government agencies, and state agencies, particularly in the southern zone covering Johor, Negeri Sembilan, and Melaka.
Visitors also participated in outdoor activities until 6 p.m., including health services, tree seedling distribution, business matching, a petting zoo, horse riding activities, fishing competitions, e-sports tournaments, remote control car races, and a five-kilometre fun run.
Aside from the opportunity to enter lucky draws at the ministry’s booths, visitors enjoyed craft demonstrations, cultural performances and exhibitions of government assets by four agencies. There was also 2,125 job openings offered by 21 employers at the MyFuture Jobs Career Carnival.
