Senai Airport City Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of MMC Corporation Bhd (MMC), is said to have attracted RM7.5 billion in investments via 150 investors.

Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, in his Facebook post said the investors include Wiwynn Technology Service Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Hershey, Mercedes-Benz, DHL, Dyson, FedEx, Haitian, Fiffy and Supermicro and they offers 28,000 job opportunities.

“This demonstrates Johor’s ability to draw investors, as Bangsa Johor will soon have more job opportunities and competitive wages. Along with encouraging sustainable economic activities for Johor, this will further enhance the socioeconomic conditions in the neighbourhood.

“I hope the results of this economic spillover will be felt by the entire Bangsar Johor and be able to improve the people’s living standards,” he said in the social media post. “With the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) policy that will boost the state’s economic sector.”

Onn Hafiz previously paid a visit to Wiwynn Technology Service’s factory. Last year, the cloud information technology (IT) infrastructure company made a USD$7.8 billion profit.

“Wiwynn Technology Service spans 30 acres. The server rack integration factory is currently in its first phase of operation. The second phase, the printed circuit board assembly server factory, is 81 percent complete.

“Wiwynn Technology Service will offer up to 1,000 job opportunities by the end of this year, with nearly 80% of its employees being locals, particularly from Johor,” he stated, adding that the company is based in Senai Airport City.
