Johor Darul Takzim Esports Association (JDTEA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Intricon Pvt Ltd, a gaming headset manufacturer from Singapore (IINVICTOR), the official sponsor of high-tech, state-of-the-art gaming headsets to the JDTEA Esports Training Centre, and players from the State Association.
The MoU signing took place during JDTEA Open Day at the Phoenix Club, Country Garden, Danga Bay, on 21st January 2024.
Inaugurated by the President of the Malaysia Esports Federation (MESF), Muhammad Naim Al Amin, he said that, “Through this programme, we hope it can change the public’s perception, especially parents, of electronic sports that are often considered a waste of time and neglect through the introduction of career paths in electronic sports.”
He added that the Ministry of Youth and Sports launched the National Esports Development Guideline (NESDEG) in June 2023, which was inaugurated by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hannah Yeoh, and announced Johor as one of the selected states for this year’s NESDEG tour programme.
A forum discussing ‘Career Paths in Esports’ with special guests Ikuto Radzi, Development Manager of Esports TODAK, and Adib Abdullah, Secretary of the Johor Bahru Esports Association, also took place.
“Esports will provide career assurance for the younger generation to face the 4.0 industrial revolution,” JDTEA’s President Shahrilnizam Omar said in the forum.
JDTEA also reaffirmed its commitment to fostering esports in Johor in compliance with the six cores of the NESDEG guidelines, with a primary emphasis on “Application of Science and Medical Sports in Esports” and “Career Path Guidance.”
A friendly mobile game competition called ‘Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’ was held between the Johor SUKMA Esports Team and JDTEA’s official partner, Team Flames, to mark the end of the event.
