In compliance with the announcement made by Dato’ Onn Hafiz bin Ghazi, the Menteri Besar of Johor during the presentation of the Johor Budget Year 2024, the efficacy use of glow-in-the-dark lines on a 400-meter long route on Jalan Simpang Renggam (J26) near Kluang, Johor for the purpose of preliminary testing of the technology involved along a 490-meter stretch is essential.

According to Kluang Public Works Department (Kluang JKR), this latest technology application can improve the quality of road user safety, especially in dark areas and accident blackspots in particular.

Onn Hafiz, stated that as of now, 31 state roads in Johor have been classified as routes requiring lighting and ‘glow in the dark’ road line technology.

The Johor government continues to be committed to improving the safety and comfort of road users, especially on routes that have yet to receive electricity and street lights.

Therefore, in addition to the initiative of installing solar lights and warning lights (amber lights), the State Government has approved an additional RM1 million for that purpose in order to increase the use of technology from France.

For the safety of locals and drivers in rural areas, the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) has also allotted RM5.5 million to install 2,230 street light units this year.

Earlier, Onn Hafiz conducted a survey related to the effectiveness of the use of glow in the dark lines on a 400 meter long route on Jalan Simpang Renggam (J26) near Kluang for the purpose of preliminary testing of the technology involved.
