Yayasan Johor Corporation (Yayasan JCorp) together with QSR Stores Sdn Bhd (QSR Stores) established collaboration with the Johor State Education Department (JPNJ) for the SLDN Programme

Yayasan Johor Corporation (Yayasan JCorp) together with QSR Stores Sdn Bhd (QSR Stores) established collaboration with the Johor State Education Department (JPNJ) for the SLDN Programme.

This programme is the first in Malaysia for secondary schools, where the pilot project is from SMK Tun Syed Nasir Ismail and SMK Majidee Baru 2, Johor Bahru, involving 25 students.

The National Dual Training System (SLDN) refers to training in two learning environments: the real workplace (company), which includes 70% to 80% practical training (performance), and the training centre, which includes 20% to 30% theoretical learning (knowledge).

The primary goal of SLDN is to produce knowledge workers (K-Workers), which are workers who are competent in three areas – technology, social and humanities, methodology, and learning.

As a pilot project, Yayasan JCorp is focussing on B40 students participating in this SLDN programme, and various attractive rewards are also offered by QSR Stores to each participant.

Among them are training allowances and certain incentives enjoyed by other employees of the company. All the incentives are an encouragement to the participants to go through the training diligently and can be used to help with learning needs as well as saving for the purpose of continuing education in the future.

Participants of this SLDN programme underwent specialisation training in the field of fast food preparation and were placed for 2 years at selected KFC restaurants around Johor Bahru while learning theory at KFC Restaurant Nusa Bestari, Johor Bahru.

A total of six KFC restaurants are involved, namely KFC Larkin Perdana, KFC Seri Gelam DT, KFC Larkin Terminal, KFC City Square, KFC JB Sentral, and KFC Nusa Bestari.

The empowerment of this programme was strengthened by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Johor State Education Department, JCorp Foundation, and QSR Stores.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Anuar Sukiran, Deputy Director of the Johor State Education Department; Zaidatul Zurita Abdul Rahman, Head of the JCorp Foundation; and Winston Thian Hee Lee, Senior General Manager, Human Resource Management Office, QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd.

The signing ceremony of this MoU was witnessed by TS. Supian Mahmood, Deputy Director Coaching Development and Industry Relations Sector, representing the Director of Vocational Technical Education & Training Division (BPLTV), Ministry of Education Malaysia, Rozaini Mohd Sani, Chairman of the JCorp Foundation, and Mohamad Musa Ahmad, Director of the Southern Region Skills Development Department.

For the purpose of quality control, this programme also receives advisory services from the Skills Development Department (JPK) of the Southern Region.

Rozaini Mohd Sani said this programme is a positive initiative towards providing access to alternative education, especially for the B40 group, to improve knowledge and skills, thus improving the family economy.

“JCorp Foundation, together with JCorp Group companies such as QSR Stores, will continue to work with educational institutions to dignify Technical Education and Vocational Training (TVET) to support the government’s desire to drive the development of local skilled workers”.

“This initiative is also seen to be able to strengthen the JCorp Foundation’s focus area of education, especially in developing human capital holistically and capable of contributing to economic development and the country as a whole in the future”.

Through this collaboration, students who successfully complete this programme will be awarded the Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM) Level Three by the Skills Development Department, a Participation Certificate from QSR, an SPM Certificate, and a Skill Stream Course Certificate (MPAK) from the Malaysian Ministry of Education.

A TVET exhibition for the Senior Vocational Programme (PVMA) held by schools around Johor Bahru and QSR Brands was also showcased throughout the event.
