Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) launched the mynext Graduate Employability Grant, an innovative and data-driven initiative for Malaysian public higher learning institutions, to foster a resilient talent pool geared for the future.
Siva Kumar, Undersecretary of the Policy Division in MOHR, officiated the soft launch event in place of the Honourable Minister of Human Resources at the PERSADA International Convention Centre in Johor Bahru in conjunction with the MOHR Open Day (Hari Bertemu Pelanggan).
In a speech read by S. Siva Kumar, Minister of Human Resources V. Sivakumar stated that TalentCorp’s investment of RM2 million in this initiative shows the government’s commitment to improving students’ career readiness and employability while tackling the major issues of underemployment and career mismatch.
“I call on all local public universities to seize this opportunity to further improve the employability of our local graduates, with the goal of contributing to the development of a sustainable MADANI workforce,” he added.
The three-year mynext Graduate Employability Grant programme from TalentCorp offers active IPTAs (Institusi Pengajian Tinggi Awam) a Graduate Employability seed fund of up to RM100,000 per institution.
Institutions that fulfil the criteria of the collaboration model will be eligible for this funding, which will have a significant positive impact on the students at those institutions.
For the benefit of their more than 32,000 students, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Che Rozid Mamat, the director of UTM’s Career Centre, became the first IPTA to demonstrate commitment to the mynext Graduate Employability Grant during the soft launch.
One of the main goals of the grant, according to Thomas Mathew, CEO of the TalentCorp Group, is to motivate students to fully utilise the mynext platform from TalentCorp, which offers psychometric testing, internship opportunities, and a tool for lifelong learning to aid in their personal and professional development.
“TalentCorp’s mynext Graduate Employability Grant represents a pivotal milestone in Malaysia’s endeavour to cultivate a skilled and adaptable workforce. It also serves as our contribution to institutions with commendable plans for conducting activities but limited resources to execute them,” he stated.
