The Johor Economic, Tourism, and Cultural Office (JETCO) serves as a vital link between Johor and Singapore in the areas of business, investment, tourism, and culture.

Raven Kumar, chairman of the Johor State Tourism, Environment, Heritage, and Culture Committee, stated that the establishment of JETCO in 2020 has enhanced the two parties’ cooperation. According to him, Singapore was one of the top contributors to Johor’s overall investment last year, totaling RM70 billion.

“So we must take care of (investors), because as I stated earlier in the speech, we cannot accept investments and then ignore the investor. Therefore, after receiving the investment (to take on JETCO roles), we must promote our products, not just Johor tourism.”

JETCO, which is already in Singapore, can continue to assist if there is an event there,” he remarked as reporters approached him at a JETCO-organised event in Iskandar Puteri, Johor.

Meanwhile, Saifuddin Abdul Rahim, Chief Executive Officer of JETCO, stated that the services provided by JETCO to industry players in Johor and Singapore include promotion, site search, incentive announcements, and workforce search.

According to him, the strategic positioning of Johor and Singapore, in addition to the advantages of land and operating expenses in this state, which are cheaper than in neighbouring countries, is a factor that helps investments.

“I see now that the trend is to have their (investors) operational office in Singapore, but the factory is located in Johor,” he explained.

He also stated that the manufacturing sector is Singapore’s largest economic contributor to Johor.
