Malaysian Takaful Association Visits Communities Affected by the Flood

The Takaful-4-All Squad under the Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) paid a visit to residents of Kampung Melayu Kundang Ulu, Tangkak, Joho,r who were affected by the floods that hit several states in the country recently. This visit was part of MTA’s series of activities to engage and foster closer relationships as well as sharing knowledge on Takaful with the communities.

At the event, MTA also presented a cheque of RM76,000 to aid in the repair and restoration of the An-Nur Jamek Mosque in Pekan Kundang Ulu, Tangkak that was damaged during the said floods. The amount was contributed by MTA and several Takaful operators, namely AIA PUBLIC Takaful Bhd., Prudential BSN Takaful Berhad, Takaful Ikhlas Berhad dan Zurich Takaful Malaysia Berhad. A total of 700 families living in Mukim Kundang Ulu were affected by the flood.

Last month, the Malaysian Takaful Association mobilised the Takaful industry collectively under the initiative of the Takaful-4-All campaign to extend help to the victims of the floods that hit several parts of the country, including Johor.

At that time, among the assistance provided included simplifying and expediting claims and sharing Hotline information for all Takaful companies, in addition to activating the Takaful-4-All squad to be on standby to provide assistance to flood victims in clean- up efforts and deliver aid when needed.

Chief Executive Officer of MTA Mohd Radzuan Mohamed said, “This series of visits and aid is a continuation of the Takaful industry’s commitment to extend help to the communities affected by the recent floods.”

According to Radzuan, “In addition to being part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts and foster closer relations with the community, the Takaful-4-All campaign that was introduced recently, aims to increase awareness and visibility of Takaful through a series of activities including, roadshows, contests, engagements as well as media campaigns across various platforms, namely mainstream, digital and social media.”

Radzuan added, “This programme is also part of the CSR activities of the Takaful industry in caring for the unfortunate members of the community that carries greater meaning since it is performed during the holy month of Ramadan.”

Tuan Haji Ehsan bin Ahmad, Chairman of the Jamek An-nur Kundang Ulu Mosque Committee said, “The community here are touched by the organisation of such programmes, and I am grateful to MTA and the Takaful industry for their assistance that will benefit the mosque and residents here. Hopefully this kind of programme can continue and we hope that more organisations would come forward to give this kind of help to other communities in need.”

The Takaful-4-All squad lent a hand to clean up and repaint the mosque and prepare the iftar dishes and “bubur lambuk” with the local community, and enjoyed their breaking of fast together.
