A contribution of RM50,000 to Waqaf An-Nur Corporation Berhad (WanCorp) for the Johor Post-Flood Relief Assistance was made by Johor Plantations Berhad (Johor Plantations), a subsidiary of Kulim (Malaysia) Berhad (KULIM), to help communities in Johor after the flood (Tabung Sumbangan Pasca Banjir Negeri Johor).

In order to help impacted Johoreans and their families lessen the effects of the floods, WanCorp mobilised its resources and provided rescue and relief activities, food supplies, housing, and basic requirements for victims.

It is now helping with post-flood activities to lessen the effects of the recent floods on the impacted Johoreans and their families. Post-flood activities include clean-up efforts, housing repairs and restoration, and repairs to public facilities, including as schools and community centres.

Mohd Faris Adli Shukery, Managing Director of Johor Plantations, said, “Floods remain a significant challenge for our communities. The devastation caused by property damage has resulted in many people being displaced and facing losses. Our goal is to alleviate some of the financial burdens of affected families and provide support as they gradually recover from the impact of the floods. We hope that our contribution will make a meaningful difference in helping them get back on their feet.”

45 children of Darul Hanan during the fast-breaking event

The donation was made at a fast-breaking event held by Johor Plantations at Pasir Gudang’s Persatuan Kebajikan Darul Hanan (Darul Hanan), a facility that looks after orphans and the less fortunate. Johor Plantations donated RM5,000 to support some of the orphanage’s operations and distributed duit raya to the orphanage’s youngsters in the spirit of giving and spreading Ramadan happiness.

Mohd Faris added, “Ramadan is a special month of introspection, growth and sharing. With these values in mind, we are honoured to spread the joy of Aidilfitri alongside Darul Hanan, an organisation that has been integral in improving and uplifting the lives of children.”

Together with financial help, Johor Plantations has donated three boats for its operating units to use in rescue and flood support operations in areas hit hard by flooding. The three estates are Mungka in Segamat, Pasir Panjang in Kota Tinggi, and Mutiara in Kluang. Soon, the Palong estate in Segamat and the Sg. Tawing estate in Kluang will each receive two additional boats.

The programmes are a part of Johor Plantations’ corporate social responsibility efforts to give back to society and improve the standard of living for both its employees who operate in flood-prone areas and the neighbouring communities.
