“Crush Hunger” is the rallying cry of Care United Johor Bahru (CUJB) this year as the NGO continues to distribute food aid to the needy across Johor Bahru in February 2023.

Following the request of B40 low-income residents in various People Housing Projects (PPR) and feeding centres, CUJB was able to gather resources for distribution.

“It is hoped that our distribution continues on a monthly basis provided donations continue to come in.” CUJB said in a statement.

In the words of President Florence Goh, “We are trying to make Food Aid happen regularly, either once a month or twice months once, to supplement your kitchen needs. During Ramadan, we hope to distribute more Food Aid items to everyone.”

Items in the food aid include a 5kg pack of Jati rice, a 1kg pack of rice and a pack of instant chocolate drinks.

“Despite the reduced amount of food for distribution, the recipients were thankful for the essentials provided to tide them over during the short month of February.” The statement continues.

At Kampung Melayu Majidee, Taman Larkin Perdana, PPR Melana Indah, and Kampung Dato Bentara on February 23, CUJB provided assistance to 20 families each.

The NGO provides food assistance to 24 OKU (persons with disabilities), including both physical and mental impairments, on February 24 at PPR Kempas Permatang, Taman Kempas Permai.

The CUJB stated they will keep approaching suppliers and negotiating prices for bulk discounts as fasting season approaches for the fasting month’s Food Aid in order to ensure the items are purchased at less than market prices.

“CUJB would like to thank all donors, NGO partners, supporters and volunteers for their continued support so far.”

CUJB aims to alleviate hunger and poverty among the masses for Hari Raya 2023 and are welcoming any contributions from well-wishers, corporate organisations and members of the public.

“We at CareUnited JB are proud to say that 100% of our donations are channelled to our projects, as we have no administration costs. As a tax-exempt NGO, all donations of RM51.00 and above are tax deductible.” the statement ends.

Despite the lifting of SOP restrictions in Malaysia, CUJB continues to take all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of all recipients, members and the public.
