The state government through Tourism Johor has participated in the international tourism exhibition World Travel Market London 2022 which took place from 7 to 9 November at the Excel Exhibition Centre, London, UK.

A statement released by Tourism Johor said the participation is an initiative of the state government to intensify the promotion of the attractions and uniqueness of tourist destinations as well as the diversity of art and culture in the state of Johor for the European market.

The World Travel Market, which involves the participation of more than 100 countries and organisations from around the world, is the best platform for the state government to highlight and expand the promotional network as well as business and investment opportunities related to the tourism sector offered in Johor.

Among the focus or target of tourism products that were introduced to foreign tourists include:-

  • Island and beach tourism (island & beach) as an attraction for foreign tourists in the Mersing such as Rawa Island (nicknamed the Malaysian Maldives), Besar Island, Tinggi Island, Pemanggil Island, Aur Island, Dayang Island & Sibu Island. Meanwhile, Desaru is recognised as one of the 100 Best Destinations in the World as a beach escape destination that offers world-class and exclusive hotels and resorts such as the One and Only Desaru Coast, Anantara Desaru Coast Resort and Villas, The Westin Desaru Coast Resort and Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast.
  • Eco-tourism products rich in natural treasures and biodiversity are offered to tourists.
  • Heritage tourism with the remains of various arts and cultures to be tracked and explored by all levels of locals and global society.

The state government also brought together several agencies and industry players as an opportunity to expand the bilateral promotion network between European tourism operators such as the Johor State Economic Planning Division (BPENJ), Tourism Johor, Johor National Parks Corporation (Perbadanan Taman Negara Johor), Anantara Desaru Coast Resort and Villas, Rawa Island Resort and some Johor state tourism product operators.

According to the statement, this mission needs to be seen as an initiative that gives impact and benefits so that the promotion is expanded and intensified aggressively by showing the state of Johor as a major and exclusive tourist destination for the European market so that they stay and spend longer nights in the state of Johor.

“This also provides an opportunity to further expand the name of Johor as a tourist destination of choice for the world…” the statement ends.
