Johor intends to make its tourism sector the best in the country this year, according to Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.
He stated that the hope was to match the state’s investment achievements, which recorded the highest investment value in the country at RM60.9 billion, as well as the success of the state’s football team, Johor Darul Tazim (JDT), which recently won the FA Cup. He added that the desire to rank first in the tourism sector aligns with the state government’s desire to strengthen Johor’s economic development.
“Johor is blessed with beautiful scenery – there are six national parks and 131 islands in Mersing. In terms of our heritage, we are proud to mention our traditional food and unique Johor culture. We need to be ambassadors of the state,” he said at the opening of the Majestic Johor Festival (FMJ) 2022.
The Majestic Johor Festival, a collaboration of various agencies, runs for 11 days, from last Thursday (8th September) to Sunday (18th September), and features various tourist attractions and uniqueness, as well as the heritage of 10 districts throughout the state.
Meanwhile, the Kembara Mahkota Johor (KMJ) exhibition, which showcases the Sultan of Johor’s various vehicles, is one of the main attractions of FMJ 2022, which is being held for the first time this year. The festival is one of many initiatives aimed at assisting the tourism industry in increasing the number of visitors to the state following the COVID-19 pandemic.
