Safe Johor Agenda to Improve Security Aspects of the State – Onn Hafiz

In order to achieve developed status by 2030, the Johor state government will continue to improve security through various programmes under the Safe Johor agenda.

According to Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, in order for the agenda to succeed, electric scooters and mobile police station vans were purchased, and police beats were upgraded.

Furthermore, he stated that the police would continue to collaborate with the Malaysian Armed Forces, uniformed bodies and non-governmental organisations to strengthen state security.

“Apart from the security agencies, the four local authorities (PBT) also play a major role in maintaining public safety in Greater Johor Bahru.

“Under the Smart City Initiative, every closed circuit camera (CCTV) installed in the Greater Johor Bahru area is and will be connected to a command centre that will monitor the entire city including the popular spots,” he said in his Facebook post, dated 13th August 2022.

He also added that the command centre will be immediately connected to the police line, and artificial intelligence (AI) technology will be employed for facial and automobile recognition to facilitate investigation and complaints, in an effort to reduce crime incidents further.

Onn Hafiz also said that the high level of security will create a welcoming environment for investors and tourists.

“All of these will contribute to the long-term improvement of the state’s financial status for the benefit of the people of Johor,” he stated.
